Morning guys. Hope posting in here is ok. With the increasing rate at which gambling and football are becoming linked, I'm writing an undergraduate dissertation on accessibility to gambling and targeting football forums. I would really appreciate it if you could take 2 minutes to fill it in. All responses will be kept anonymous Thanks very much!

Seems too short to be that helpful. I will make this comment; I have a friend who is addicted to gambling.

I have a hatred of gambling which is simply a tax on people, often those that can least afford it because it is a potential way out of their troubles But we all live with having to manage risk on a day to day basis. As such, I don't think you can ever neutralise words around assessing and managing risk, including e.g. odds. We gamble in everything we do. Change jobs, make an investment, even buying a drink in a bar in Greece (makes you go blind, sometimes). One way or another we have to come to balance the gambles we take and not get sold into taking the wrong ones. Online gambling to me is particularly pernicious.

Im not a gambler at all. I think gambling has a lot of negative side effects -the horses that are killed after their careers finish and the same for greyhounds. Also the effects on peoples live as a result of gambling addictions. I remember growing up and betting was pretty popular - pools, betting shops but nowadays it's everywhere especially in the last 5 - 10 years. The online betting, the tv advertising, the growing number of shops. I think it's pretty crap myself. I know some people enjoy it and some even make some money out of it but Im glad Im not into it and I wish there wasn't so much advertising of it too.
Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping. Hubert Reeves |
