We've seen clearly tonight that with this manager in situ there's no point bringing any new players in because they won't be used. And presumably any prospective signing knows this anyway.

Totally agree,we got our own centre forwards on the bench but he'd rather play a Swansea player Ayew upfront instead.

If we sign another forward, we'LL then have 3 centre forwards on the bench, unless he leaves wickham or benteke out of the squad altogether. ...

I think you will find that both Benteke and Wickham will play on Saturday and be rotated at around 60 mins. It's all to do with match fitness, not risking new injuries and how we play away from home. If Ayew plays it will be in Wilf's role.

Any new striker would be a replacement for, and hopefully an improvement on, Ayew.

Is that because Ayew, Meyer Kouyate, and Guaita haven't got any game time?

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

I wish.
The manager's preference for second raters like Ayew and Schlupp is baffling. His disregard of Meyer more so. There is no substitute for skill ....

Daily mail has this tonight.

Roy Hodgson is not happy with Palace's transfer business
Hodgson said: 'We have brought in one player that I wanted in Bakary Sako – I think he will help us.
'I was told we brought in two players but to be honest, I don’t really count the young goalkeeper who is here with a view to the future and with a view to us assessing him over the next six months.
'A goalkeeper was far from my player on a list of priorities because we have three very good goalkeepers at a senior level.'

Touch my coffee and I will slap you so hard even Google won't be able to find you.

So what Board would spend tens of millions on players who won't play? Anything done with reference to next season won't involve Hodgson or make suppositions about who might succeed him.

I think the only caveat there is that its important to sign players the manager actually fancies as a starter.

Hodgson's treatment of Max Meyer clearly tells the story about his signing.

This was cooked up by Dougie and Steve because he was on a free, not because Hodgson wanted him.

However - I will totally agree that Hodgson's timeline to either bed in a new player or bring a player back from injury is akin to the seven stages of man, as he is so old fashioned.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

He then went on, and said something like "I have no idea why clubs dont sign players at the beginning of transfer windows, rather than the end, so they could actually be played".

If thats not a dig at last minute Stevie, I dont know what is.
