Just read Roy's post match interview and whilst I agree with most of it, I found one bit very worrying.

Exact quote on CPFC website but regarding Wickham it was basically "Ayew starts in the League and I only gave Connor this chance because it was the cup".

I completely understand that Wickham is not fit to play 90 but with him and Benteke both back and fighting for match fitness, I think Roy needs to get his priorities right and play them back into form.

If Ayew was 3rd choice Striker but a Palace player, I'd understand it's man-management and trying not to let his head drop but he's a Swansea player and we owe him nothing. He scored an okay goal at Wolves and I don't care about Grimsby.

Benteke or Wickham need to be starting every league game now with the other coming on as Sub until either one clearly shows they are the best or they both regain full fitness.

Please stop this nonsense Roy that just because Ayew is trying, he should be our league starting Striker. If we go in to Southampton and Fulham with Ayew first choice I fear we will only pick up points if we get a 0-0. We looked a real goal threat yesterday with Wickham up top.

Have to laugh as I was just listening to the post match while walking the dog and thought EXACTLY the same thing.

All normal and routine except when he says he "rested" Ayew for this one and wouldn't start Wikcham in the league.

Why the F not, was the follow up question I had hoped for, but it didn't come. Wickham made several defensive headed clearances which Ayew doesnt bring, in fact I seem to recall a previous game against spurs where he absolutely bottled it and left Foyth score. All in all Wickham led the line well yesterday.

I am not saying Ayew is sh&t but why the hell can Wickham start in the cup but not in the league now? Makes no sense.

By the time Benteke and Wickham finish Roy's painstaking "back to match fitness" plan the season will be over.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Jordan Ayew isn't really an out and out striker in my view, better in a wider role. Connor showed yesterday how to lead a line, if Roy isn't a fan, he really should be.

I think the fact Wickham has only started one game in two years may be a big factor. Bentenke is probably behind him in terms of match fitness too. If both get fit then I think Ayew will find himself on the bench unless he can start scoring regularly.

Worst thing we could do is get an injury for Benteke or Wickham now and be stuck with Ayew till the end of the season as our main striker.

Until they are fully fit to start and can have an impact Ayew probably should play. It’s not ideal, but hopefully they will be fit to start in the next week or 2.

I was a bit worried after hearing these comments but don't think they should be taken too seriously really. He isn't going to give out information that easily and wouldn't be surprised to see Benteke/Wickham starting at least one of the next 2 games. I reckon he will have thought about what he was saying, despite some of his criticisms, he certainly isn't ignorant or stupid

Hodgson dissed Wickham when he came on and changed the game, it's there live TV. Don't know what his problem is, but Hodgson is a stubborn prick of the highest order.

About 85 mins in the last two games has produced one goal & one assist against two of the Countries top sides. I understand about his fitness but surely Roy will have to consider starting him ahead of Ayew soon.

He does come out with some strange old comments. I think once he's made his mind up on something thats pretty much it. Looks like Ayews graft over ability will always win the day.

Agreed. I'd love to see him start against Southampton but it's unlikely to happen.

Spot on about Ayew.

Have ready numerous threads on here, especially around us needing a striker, but no-one (including myself) has really called into doubt that Ayew is one.

He can sort of run, has some touch, some strength and can take a shot but he is not a 'striker'. I would categorise him as an 'attacking player' whereas CW and CB are both out and out no.9's!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I might ordinarily have said that's mind games ahead of Wednesday, but I don't think that's Roy's style. Also, what he said after the Chelsea game, I think it was, when Connor came on as a sub, leads me to think Roy's not his greatest fan.
