We all use the word 'Legend' far to often in football.

In the 45 years I have been watching the Red and Blue I would probably only apply the term to less than 10 players. Speroni would be one of them.

I may be wrong, and i'm sure someone will be quick to tell me if i am, but I think Jules may now hold the club record for clean sheets (which I think he held with NM).

On top of his fantastic service on the field (4 times player of the year) he has always conducted himself off-field with great dignity. Even when he lost his place in the team for several seasons he didn't act the superstar, he just waited in the wings for his time to come round.

Had the pleasure of meeting him once with my kids, he couldn't have been nicer or spared more of his time.

I'm proud to call you our keeper Jules.

I'm 33 now, been supporting Palace for 25 years and can honestly say he's been my favourite player in that time. Considering that after the errors he made in his first few games I wanted him straight out the team for Kiraly it's been quite a turnaround!

Hate to be pedantic but I was 8

Previous to that my dad was trying to make me a Chelsea fan but I copied my cousin and went for Palace instead. 5 league titles, 3 European cups and 10 domestic cups later and I'm not sure I made the right decision that day!

Well done to Jules on the clean sheet record

[Link] In the match programme Palace chairman Steve Parish had asked that Speroni be forgiven for last Saturday’s catastrophe at Liverpool and here the goalkeeper atoned in the only way he possibly could and was cheered from the field at the end.
