Mortgage advisor - good career?

I’ve spent the last 10 years working in the betting industry as a trader but have grown weary of it, particularly the grinding daily commute up to London, so am looking to change career and do something totally new, ideally locally.

Unfortunately because my experience is quite niche I’m finding it a struggle to break into any other areas but one potential avenue that caught my eye was doing the qualifications to become a mortgage advisor. Has anyone on here worked as one or as anything similar? If so how did you find it?

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Have you thought about the compliance side of betting, aml regs and the like. Be a change but would tap into your knwledge -kyc compliance is big here, malta and gibraltar. Fnes for non-compliance are hefty.

It is something that interests me Chris but I’ve already done 4 years in Gib for Stan James and pretty settled back in Kent now. I’ve got a 2 year old and another on the way so really just looking to get my commute right down.

Where are you incidentally? Malta or Gib?

The thing is it's a transferable skill, it's the same rule book for betting as for banks, insurers, asset managers, building societies etc. The Maltese regulator was not for me after some research - but nearly Malta.
