With how this season is going, both league wise and transfer wise, it's pretty clear that we're happy with just surviving every year. Now I'm no happier about that than anyone, but let's be honest, there's not much we can do about that, so I think we just need to accept it.

But if that's the attitude we're going to take I want to see us invest more in off the pitch matters. The fact of the matter is our infrastructure is not good enough and hasn't been for the past five years. Fortunately, we're taking big steps in the right direction, what with the new main stand and finally securing a permanent academy that we can develop as we please. It takes a long time to build a football club, especially with how far behind we are and maybe this will be a short term pain long term gain scenario. Parish talked in his notes about building for the future and while I'm skeptical about everything that man says, I'm also desperate for him to prove me wrong, so I'm willing to take him at his word for now.

To sum it up, I just want the board to show us as fans that our strategy this season really is the best thing for our club and that they have an actual plan.

Agree that having something tangible off the pitch is worthwhile and to be fair that does seem to be happening with the stadium and academy plans. Like most plans cash is the bottom line and to produce a team that can safely compete season after season in the PL requires outlay particular the wage bill. One thing I would really like to see in the future is developing a player who can combine with Wilf.

We’re taking pigeon steps with the new main stand.

Parish knows what to say, or thinks he does. He’s a spin salesman.

To be honest, I'm not sure how much we've got to invest outside the playing staff - our wage bill is surely stretched to maximum at the moment, and the transfer fees we've been throwing out for crap players (who never get us a good return) have been substantial.

i accepted this is our status-quo years ago and am more than happy with this scenario, dont get above ourselves and look to punch above our weight anymore than we currently are.

greed is a horrible thing.

Good point. I would love somebody to explain this. Finance? PR? Property Development? Tax evasion?

What progress? I'll believe that the main stand is happening when the ribbon is cut and not before. As for the youth? They've 'secured' a new lease. Big whoop.

The delay in the development of the ground has nowt to do with the investment size/availability and everything to do with the Joys of planning procedure, sainsburys playing hard ball and the small matter of a handful of houses in an awkward position with the added inconvenience of actual poeple in residence.

As for the training ground, I understood the club had acquired a long lease for new land across the road from the current facilities and not just a new lease over what we already have.

Their point is to make some quick money.

From our perspective it is less clear as to what the point of bringing them onboard was ... unless it was to fend off a potential takeover by other unknown parties?

Just to point out we have been around for over 100 years and this is our 6/7 season in the Prem.
With around 200 million coming in each year ( I read somewhere we are /were the 30th richest club in the world) we should not be "far behind " any of the bottom 14 clubs, currently in the Prem.

If the club (Parish, 2010 & the yanks) wanted it to progress they’d make it start progressing.
