Well, a frustrating afternoon

Cardiff looked poor to start with but it was a classic Warnock approach, absorb the pressure and pray for a goal against the run of play.

The Cardiff centre backs were excellent, especially Bamba.

Wilf kicked around a lot, taking it in turns I think.

Decent crowd, Cardiff did their part too. Much hilarity at half time as the announcer said the kids doing the penalties were from Leicester. The Cardiff fans were pretty jovial.

HF trying hard again but not enough of them to really build the atmosphere.

Wickham coming on caused quite a stir but in truth he was owned by the centre backs. Also seems incapable of jumping, never looked like getting above Cardiff's tall men. Not such a target man as Benteke.

It could all have been so different if Wickham's first touch had been a foot to the right.

Thought we played well. Fantastic ball retention and passing but the most frustrating game of the season.
Cardiff defended really well and their GK was excellent. That said I think there’s a lack of intent at times in the box.
Van Aanholt in particular brings a lot of pace and energy but doesn’t hit the ball into the corridor of uncertainty enough preferring to drive the ball back too fast for the oncoming player to adjust their feet.

Kouyate our best player today IMO.

So we revert to type: not taking a shot or badly taken shots. Sigh...

I have been a fan of Meyer but Roy was right to sub him - was amazed how he somehow shot wide after refusing the easy pass back to our oncoming players. I cant say I was that surprised though...

But when Roy brought on Conner so early I was shocked. Shame he didn't do much, not that surprising really.

Not sure how to sum that performance up apart from the obvious - we dropped 2 points for sure.

The first player from the Philippines to play in the PL.

The Cardiff goalkeeping coaches have been teaching him not to move his feet too much in certain circumstances. He moved around too much so he couldn't spring as much as he needed to so they have taught him to be more still at times.Warnock signed him from Walsall on a Free.

And whenever we did actually hit a ball on target we usually hit it straight at him, which pr.obably helped.

Why were the Cardiff fans booing Andros? I can't think of any connection with one of their rivals.

It surely can't be because of the praise heaped on him by that wonder strike a few days ago.

Such a frustrating afternoon. I spent most of it waiting for them to take goalkicks and throw-ins.

A serious team of cloggers and a bunch of fans who have a serious issue with the English. I have no idea why they feel the need to air their slagging nationalism at a club match. Do they seriously go to all 19 away games with the same beef?! Odd.

Amazingly, we still haven't scored a goal from open play, INSIDE THE BOX at home this season.

They were booing Wilf.

Not enough shots on target today and I still think our build up play was too slow again. We should have gone for the kill more towards the end.

According to Wikipedia, his father was English and he was born in Enfield. I'm not sure that having a Philippine mother counts as being "from the Philippines".

We had enough of the ball and chances to have won the game twice over. We had the luck against City and no luck yesterday (Townsend and Luka hitting the woodwork when a couple of inches the other way and they were in the back of the net)summed it up for me.

I read the detail about the first player from the Philippines to play in the PL but I cannot recall the source of this information.
He has played over 60 games for the Philippines.
