All those in the last 3 months. 20 yo Serbian striker. Very fit and strong. Was good last season for Eintracht Frankfurt too, made the Serbian squad for the World Cup last summer, but has really blossomed this past autumn. Goals scoring machine in the Bundesliga with 12 goals in 13 matches and 5 other goals in 6 European matches in a group with Lazio and Marseille has made him pretty much the biggest prospect for a striker at his age. Bayern and Barcelona are keeping a close eye. It would be a gigantic coup by Crystal Palace to get him to come here. Price couldn't be cheap though. Frankfurt had a buy-in clause of around 10 million from Benfica (who were pretty stupid to let him go at that age). They activated and now will probably want at least 30 million to sell him. Normally, the money could be recouped given his age and potential development even if he doesn't settle in the PL amazingly. But then again, how bad can he do given his numbers? Seen him live, he runs and and goes into spaces a lot, is very, very powerful, good shots, pretty much everything a striker needs. Article says the other 2 options for Palace are Batshuayi and Solanke. With Bats I'd be very happy as he was last year in Germany the star that Jovic is today, scored a lot for Borussia Dortmund. Went to Valencia to play in the Champions League for them, but didn't settle as Valencia is going through a rough phase and he had disagreement with the manager. Still managed 7 goals this past autumn for Valencia and the Belgium national team. He has pretty much everything a forward needs too, maybe lacking a bit at holding the ball and playing with the back to the opposing net (pivot) for the teammates, but his stay in Spain should have helped him develop his technique, it was what he needed. He's just not suited for Spanish football, but does great in leagues where you play faster, like Bundesliga or the Premier League. Solanke...I don't know. He's highly rated in England, but he has not proven himself in a top league. And I don't think he could either at this age, not score more than 5-6 goals a season that is. He has only played at youth level until now. I could see him in other PL teams where he would have time to develop, but not with Palace, cause what Palace needs right now badly is a starting striker, someone who can score goals up front, besides Wilfried Zaha. Solanke doesn't seem like the staring type from the get-go.

Too much money for us to spend on one player. Doubt this would happen. Bats would be great but again I don't think it will happen. Solanke on loan being the cheapest option is likely what Parish will want to do. Edited by DeanMiles (25 Dec 2018 6.50pm)

At least our penalty count might go up. Have to off load him at the end of the season tho due to VAR. Maybe we can bring in Snodgrass as well ? Seriously tho would like to be a fly on the wall with his agent and SP going head to head for Round 2. Edited by Booted Eagle (27 Dec 2018 3.40pm)

It's not easy when you only come on as a substitute for a few minutes. 4 in 3 matches this autumn for the national team, 12 in 23 in total for Belgium, 9 in 14 for Borussia Dortmund and 12 in 25 in the last year at Chelsea sounds a lot better, doesn't it?

So I think we can safely say this rumour was made up with Jovic joining Real Madrid for an initial 65m. Solanke did nothing for Bournemouth. Batshuayi is a funny one as he did score goals, but when he wasn't scoring he was pretty absent. Is that important? I don't know. I'd be happy to see him back, but I don't think we'll pay what Chelsea will likely want.

Not that it really matters now but I have seen Jovic a few times. I thought lightweight, overrated and not that good with ball at feet nor at headers. I don't see how Real Madrid are interested as he is barely good enough for us.
