Am I mistaken or did Neil Warnock not play for Scarborough in this game? I no longer have the programme

I don't think he did. Without wishing to sound like Willo, he did manage them but not until the 80's. Remember going to this game and getting a police escort to the ground from the station (I think they had had trouble in the previous round). Got drawn against Leeds in the next round, I believe we heard this whilst pulling in to Leeds Station...good times

Scarborough lost to Preston in the previous round.Due to the Preston Fans bad behaviour we were caged in with fencing borrowed from the local zoo!!
My abiding memory was that loads of meat pies were impaled on the spikes!! Also being Yorkshire the locals parked on a nearby hill and watched the game for nothing!!
Great days which led to the most gut wrenching defeat in Palace history, losing to the saints in the semi final even though we were favourites!

Warnock played for Aldershot in the 1975/6 season. He didn't play any league football for Scarborough but he managed them from 1986-9 in which time they were promoted to the Football League for the first time.

He's had 14 jobs since, including us twice.

Your last sentence is spot-on for me. I was 17 then and I still haven’t gotten over it!

I’ll have to bow to your recollection, Spidey, but I thought the FA Cup draw still took place at Monday lunchtime back in 1976.

Another memory is of this game being one of the few 3rd round ties to be included on Match of the Day. This was back in the day when all the matches were played at the same time on Saturday and highlights of only two or three games would be shown on TV, and there was always a certain excitement at arriving at the ground to discover that ‘the cameras’ were there.

This was the game where Big Mal first made a thing about his fedora hat I believe

Indeed it was, came back on the "special" that night, in 1st class with a meal with the players. I have the signed menu somewhere safe!!! (If only I could remember where).

Correct, they had the draw straight after the match back then.

Also remember coming out of Leeds in the van with the radio on hearing that the next round we got Chelsea away.

It's still the only fixture between the two clubs (Scarborough v CPFC)

Just to confirm, Neil Warnock never played for Scarborough, he managed them in the 80's.

Cheers for that, must be the age...

Anyone have a copy of the programme team line-ups to post?

YT I have to bow to you, you are correct. Not sure where I got that idea from, perhaps a premonition
