Was discussing exactly this yesterday after the game. Must admit I don’t know much about his style of play but he’s a big lad and has an excellent scoring record for England U21’s. I’m sure Liverpool would benefit by sending out on loan for the second half of the season. There are a lot of decent young players out there who are good enough but don’t get the chance (RLC being a prime example)

Would be a good loan signing with another striker. Have previous with the Scousers but this might be protracted to late Jan. If we really want this guy have to bow to them, like RLC.

I agree but if he it was him alone I would be concerned if that was the only addition to our strikers. Could turn out great just like RLC but would much rather hedge our bets on someone with a little more skin in the game personally. If we continue to fail to find the back of the net bringing in someone with potential only could spell trouble. Quite who these others stikers are.. I have no idea.

We are indeed targeting him on loan. Would be a strong signing. Let's hope we get it done early in January rather than on deadline day.

Defoe would cost more salarywise and no guarantee he would bring his scoring boots with him

I don't see him as a player to lead the line at this stage of his career, but would give us another option in the Zaha/Townsend mould. His record does not suggest he is the man to bring us a bag of goals, but he's so young who knows, perhaps youthful arrogance is what we need?
