I'm a liberal basically, but I'm not a snowflake or a bleeding heart or whatever, and I think a lot of people who are anti PC are often bigots in disguise, nostalgic for when a spade could be called a spade and wooly woofters were persona non grata, and I don't think the BBC has been taken over by lefties more like robotic careerist monarchists, however we can meet in the middle, there's a new breed of PC types who are riding the 'trans' bandwagon - nothing against people who are 'non-binary' but there's now an attempt to paint anyone who struggles to understand transgenderism as a bigot, one of these new PC types works with me and did a degree in 'gender studies' - and is grateful she was brought up in a world that is not 'hetero-orthodox' (she's about 23 years old). I am now suddenly four square with Stirlingsays and a few of my political opposites on this one. For me I admire Gareth Thomas, think everyone's a bit more bi than they'd like to admit hence homophobia, gay marriage? why not, but being a kid being brought up that way could be a serious headf*ck, and I am a bigot to the new brigade bcos I disapprove of lesbian couples getting artificially inseminated and bringing up the resulting off spring, as another teacher I know did and christened the poor little sod 'Bear'. So maybe all us liberals and conservatives can come together and tell this non binary lot that they are all either pri*cks or c*nts, it's hard enough trying to explain same sex marriage to little kids, but confronting young kids with the issue of transgenderism to make it acceptable runs the risk of encouraging deep confusion too early in life - always thought the loony left thing was exaggerated, not in this case. They're even trying to promote gender neutral toilets these days to accommodate those who feel male one day and female the next - maybe this could be the rallying point which unites us - save our ladies and gents lavs!!!

Why? I would have thought it fairly simple

I'm a live and live person but I do worry that we are rushing headlong into this gender change and that 20 years from now it will be seen as a mistake.

The other day a teacher claimed that 17 pupils at her school were transitioning. We have no way of knowing if this is true because she is anonymous but if it is I find it a suspiciously large number. If someone wants to transition then good luck but I thing children often don't know what they want or are confusing sexuality with gender change. Giving children hormones and surgery is a drastic step and one that should not be taken lightly.

As for someone declaring they have changed gender without any form of treatment well there was a rapist who recently got himself moved to a women's prison, guess what happened next? I can understand why some feminists feel threaten by this and I don't blame them. I don't pretend to have the answer but feel that the "trans lobby" have quite a powerful voice and a measured medical response seems to be muted so I wonder if the critics are too frightened to speak out.

How many people who have transitioned commit suicide? How many wish they could reverse the process? Are we making it too easy an not doing the proper mental health checks?

Undoubtedly there are people born in the wrong body but is this becoming a fashion statement?

Perhaps ex hibitionist is starting to discover.....much as I did....that the liberalism of their youth....the 'live and let live' ends up with you being called the bigot.

I use to smile at the 'slippery slope' argument yet I discovered that the more 'socially conservative' types.....and when I say 'socially conservative' I'm not saying those who think women should be chained to the kitchen or beaten if they nag....no I'm talking about the type of social conservativism that puts the family and tradition at the heart of society.....well being for that makes you a bigot to the progressives.

If you start to say....'hang on' and point out how other aspects of society are being damaged......Suddenly you're a nazi and 'insert ridiculous insult'.

Feck em.....they have done nothing but worsen and weaken society for the majority....whilst using platitudes and pretence to say otherwise.

I too use to think that being liberal was for a better society.....In lots of ways I still am liberal.....For example I think prostitution should be legalised to protect sex workers and I'm softened....to an extent on drug legalisation....to an extent that was due to listening to Jamie's arguments on here....Not that I totally agreed, but he also talked sense....I also couldn't give a feck who someone consensually shags....As long as I don't have to hear about it and how 'proud' they are.....What the feck is that all about anyway?

However....when it comes to many of the changes the progressives have introduced into society.....When I look around at what this country is becoming.....I think progressivism is a disaster.

If anyone in primary school tries to teach LGBQ...67XTYZ....to my young boys. After I lecture them about sexually politicising my children at an age when they should be innocent and playing....I'd withdraw them from the school.

The can complain about 'toxic masculinity' until the cows come home.....they aren't turning my kids into NPCs.

I think I'm pretty accommodating. I don't care who or what anyone is as long as they're Palace.
