I see that there are proposals to limit PL clubs to just 12 overseas players. In my opinion, this a good idea. It gets rid of those overseas players who are really no better than homegrown talent. They are only bought because they are cheaper. This way, PL money gets filtered down the leagues instead of abroad.

Man City are f***ed then? It will be some sort of watered down proposal to placate some who advocate this. In theory it is like Turkeys voting for Christmas.........

And we'd already be within the rules.

Agreed I should point out this is the FA's proposal and the Premier League has yet to agree it. I would hope though that the government will listen to the FA rather then the PL.

And we'd already be within the rules. Although there should be a few of our overseas players being nervous anyway.

I think Chelsea would be more screwed than Citeh. If they brought this in, it would probably have to be 5 years down the line from the time it's agreed, as some players would be on contracts that long. It would possibly reduce the standard of the league to some degree, though arguably not by that much. But Champions League clubs would probably object, on the basis that they are bound to rules which the opposition are not. Interesting to see what comes out of it. You can see that a club challenging in 4 competitions would be hampered to some degree by this. But Palace would be fine so screw 'em (except that our homegrown players would suddenly be in big demand at the big 6 clubs!)

Chelsea would have 8 home grown, giving them a squad of 20 and Citeh would only have 6 home grown, giving them 18. Not sure what you mean about the CL clubs being bound to rules? They're not forced to buy overseas players to be in it. The German and Italian sides seem to manage with a much higher quantity of home grown players.
