A loan move possible for him in January? He’s young, but played little and scored less. Could be his agent is drumming up interest? Hardly likely to go on a scoring spree even if we do sign him. But given that Ayew isn’t scoring, then wd be another option maybe?

Might be adept at picking up passes from Zaha and Townsend, and getting a shot in. Might be worth a punt.

I like him. I really do. But there would be several problems with this: 1. He's very young and, although he will probably be amazing with time, he's not a striker to start hitting goals immediately after arrival. His record is of 20 goals in 81 matches in the last 2 years for Sampdoria, AS Roma and the Czech national team. That's not very different from Benteke's 18 goals in 70 matches for Palace. But, yes, it differs because Schink is just 22 years old and will further develop, probably even able to sell him for 40-50 million in a couple of years. He also runs more than Benteke, is able to play on the wing too and has done it for Roma a few times, pulling his goal ratio down cause it's more difficult to score from that position. 2. He would cost a fortune!! Even if he comes on loan. What if he settles in nicely and you have to pay the 35+ million they'd be asking? Would you? Cause Roma paid for him 8 million 1 year ago. If he is sold by January 2020, they will further pay Samdoria 20 more million or half the fee for which is sold, whichever is bigger. Even if he is not sold, by February 2020 they would still need to pay Sampdoria a further 20 million. 3. Health problems? 1 year ago, Juventus passed on signing him after a medical showed heart problems. They said he failed it, the Sampdoria president said he was fine and they're exaggerating. In the end, Roma took him if Juventus didn't. But he's been injured quite a lot. 4. He's not in shape. He would need months of adjustement. He has played only 250 minutes this season without scoring or assisting at least once. He would eventually come true, but Palace needs a striker who can score ASAP if we are going to avoid relegation with certainty. I'm not trying to compare him with Sorloth, cause he's a totally different quality, but he would need pretty much the same amount of time to adjust.
The guy has 24 goals in his last 99 matches! 1 in 4 without even playing as center forward. As center forward he has 8 goals in 17 matches. He has been used as winger in a 4-3-3 formation the last 2 seasons. He is 1,80, good height to play all positions up front, has tremendous work ethic, runs a lot, shoots great, is in awesome form this season and it continues from the previous season, just 26 years old, Rome willing to let him go for a mere 10-13 million (he just stayed with them in the summer cause they couldn't sign Malcom who went to Barcelona). But he's amazing and takes his chance every time he gets on the pitch. Hasn't had an injury in a long time, is fit, fights with players twice his size, has the spirit, has the determination needed to make in the Pemier League, would be great right from the start, would be sold in 2 years for 30 million after scoring double digits every season. El Shaarawy-Zaha partnership would take this team to top 8 in the Premier League. Edited by mattteo (08 Nov 2018 8.04pm)

I’d rather we signed one of them .

Sounds like he would be a good end of season investment if we could afford him. But Matteo is quite righ, he wouldn’t come good and ready to play for quite a while, so would not be the dynamic goal scorer we need.

El Shaarawy looks like a brilliant player. Only problem (as usual with good players) is cost and wd he want to come to Palace? Cost should be at most 14 million. This is what they wanted in the summer, but AC Torino, who wanted him, did not pay. Or maybe Roma itself decided against it once they failed to land any of Malcom, David Neres and Leon Bailey. Roma plays a 4-3-3, from the midfield up with 3 central midfielders and 3 in attack (2 wingers and a center forward): Nzonzi Under/Perrotti Kluivert/El Shaarawy Dzeko I don't know why their current manager doesn't value much El Shaarawy, but it's their funeral. For me, he's the best there. Ok, the young Turkish Under has already proven his worth and will be great in the future, he needs to be promoted. They also invested heavily in youngster Justin Kluivert (Patrick Kluivert's son), also very young and pacey, but they should think twice when signing from the Eredivisie, players score like crazy in that league, there's little to no defending there. With Perrotti injured for the start of this season and Malcom taken by Barcelona right before signing for Roma, they kept El Shaarawy on board. And he played great, took his chances, like he has done the past 2 years as well. But in July this is the price that they were asking Torino for him: That's 16 million euroa, not pounds. They want that, but I think you could even make a 11-12 million pounds bid. If Perrotti comes back from injury, the manager is known to prefer him ahead of El Shaarawy. God knows why he prefers a 30 year old who scores mostly from the penalty spot, doesn't run as much as El Shaarawy and doesn't have as many assists either. And I think they'll transfer another winger in winter, be it Berardi or Chiesa or Leon Bailey. So, the Italian-Egyptian might find himself 4th choice for winger position. If Roma really wants to transfer someone in winter, they will need to ship him out. Fiorentina and, as said above, AC Torino were the clubs that wanted him in the summer. Good clubs, but I think Crystal Palace can challenge them. Sure, he could wait for a bigger club too, but if he knows what's good for him and he wants playing time, he'll come to Palace. No Borussia Dortmund will take him next summer if he hardly plays for Roma. He might want a Premier League challenge with all the possibilities of transfer to Top 6 teams here instead of staying in the Serie A for a mid-table team. He's just 26 years old so a transfer to the Top 6 is not off the table in the next 2 years. He has the determination to play in this league. He might be weary of injuries from English type of defenders, but in the last years respect has been dominant and legs haven't been broken like they were in the past. Also, English medical techniques for recoveries bring players back in mere months from horrible injuries. I don't think he'd find more respect and clean tackles in the Serie A and is just as likely to have an injury there too if not more. He's not shy of charging and inserting his foot in tackles, even though he had injuries years ago. He has been injury free for many years. West Ham has recently showed interest too with manager Pellegrini wanting him.

on a less important note if he does turn up you pronounce Schick - not chic like the 70s funk band but like the first syllable in schizophrenia with a 'k' on the end ... skits-k. 'skit' as in parody, pluralise it to skits, then add a 'k. tricky. I'm half czech btw hence my knowledge of these things, paltry as it is however compared to the encyclopedia that is Matteo.
