Who should I bump into the other day but veteran comedian, music hall historian and Croydon-educated Palace fan Roy Hudd (forgive shameless name-dropping) Because he now lives in Suffolk and is in his 80s, getting to Selhurst Park is a bit of a challenge but he reckons to be as much a fan now as when he was four. When he was a lad, his uncle used to take him to home matches, and he has special memories of the stars of yesteryear - notably left back Alf Noakes. To his credit, he has even converted his wife, Debbie (who is from Lancashire), to the cause. As we parted, she shouted after me: “Eagles!”

Never knew he was Palace. Haven't seen him for a while. Was he on Corrie?

Well Willo she is correct (sorry!) he was an undertaker. in Corrie. I went to a book signing of his autobiography "A fart in a colander), chatted a few minutes about CP. He was featured back on THAT Cup Final day about his memories of following CP. His cohort on the radio was June Whitfield, who supported Wimbledon, but she denied this at a talk I attended a couple of years ago, saying that it was a stunt as Roy followed Palace/

I met Roy Hudd at the 1990 fa cup final and chatted to him for around 10 minutes and had picture taken with him,his a fantastic bloke. He is a big Palace fan,I think his originally from Clapham.

He used to live in Clapham but left London after yobbos spat on Debbie. He was brought up his gran and went to Tavistock School in Croydon.
