To replace Hodgson as I don't think he's going to be at Palace next season...would anyone want Jose if he was available?

Sean Dyche who was my pick before Roy or big Sam again.

Those I don't want:
Jose (pointless we don;'t have the transfer kitty)
Gareth Southgate, seems better suited to the England job was never impressed with him at club football.
Chris Coleman, See Garth Southgate.

One more point

Chris Wilder seems to have had success wherever he goes and each step up he has shown his ability to adapt. You imagine he would also have good knowledge of the football league and Championship. The fact Sheffield United is his boyhood club could be a stumbling block.

Agree, Dyche would be a great fit, but I think he'd see us as a sideways step.

It looks like we're struggling with our wage bill and have bought too many duds and offered excessive wages to pretty much all of our players (e.g. Schlupp on 55k p/w or so). What we really need is a manager who will give us a few years of stability without great spending (could have been Hodgson if he was a few years younger), while massively upgrading the transfer/scouting system so that we stop overpaying, buy decent players who we sell on for good money rather than releasing, and find young talent.

Personally I'd prefer to put a wedge in the revolving managerial door if possible, provided Roy's prepared to stay. I favour the suggestion, made elsewhere, for Roy to begin training a successor in preparation for his eventual departure.

With the exception of the old war horses, who've saved our arse in the past few seasons, success elsewhere is no guarantee of success at Palace. Plus I'm not sure if I could countenance any more weeks and weeks of Parish navel gazing over a 'shortlist' of 30 names, whilst sailing around the Mediterranean.

Eddie Howe and/or Sean Dyche would be great but alas that's never going to happen.

Howe and Bournemouth are joined at the hip, he is in his comfort zone there. He went to Burnley and failed probably because he went from a wonderful lifestyle in Dorset to the sh*thole that is Burnley and couldnt cope. I think he will stay at Bournemouth as long as they want him.

I've been to Burnley and SE25 and doubt whether either is any better than the other

I would expect Roy to stay until the end of his contract period, which is the end of 2019/20 season.

I can't see the point in speculating over a vacancy that doesn't exist , my opinion

I'd like to see Gary Neville, ok his record in Spain not to good but we could seriously do alot worse.

Very wise words.

When the time comes, then there will be a clearer picture as to the potential possibilities to replace him.It is folly and indeed premature to engage in such discussion at this juncture.

Interesting suggestion. A bit like Frank de Boer with a slightly better grasp on the English language in my opinion. But I respect your views.
