Wilf is right but to ask for more protection from very average referees the worst for a long while as agreed by FIFA but....why when he gets fouled are there no protests from the other players why is there no retribution on the offenders most teams have players that wouldnt accept one of there own being targeted. Zanka left the field without a mark on him....and it worries me the team just accept it.

I completely agree with you, wondering why teammates don't speak up for him more proactively. I wish we could turn back the clock, because it's clear now that he enters games with a reputation in the eyes of the refs, not for going doing easily so much as for expecting fouls and yellow cards at every contact and every weighty contact, respectively. At this point, it's clear that the refs give his opponents all benefit of the doubt. In the course of the season I expect this will cost us unfairly in the penalty area. If he could regularly walk away AND HIS TEAMMATES WOULD DEFEND HIM, I think the dynamics would change.

I agree up to a point that team mates should close ranks to protect the chosen one . Wouldn't like to see stupid retribution though that gets players sent off .

gone are the days of that side of the game...cant get away with it one of the reasons im happy VAR is coming into play is after a rew reds have been shown that in itself will protect players more.

I've said for a while we're too nice BUT to be fair, yesterday we were a lot more physical and fought fire with fire.

I’m not worried about team spirit but leadership may be an issue. We clearly had that with Jedinak, Delaney, Murray and a few others but we may need a soldier or two in the next couple of windows to replace that.

If what they said on 606 was correct that only 1 decision in the 5 games would of been reversed (a Citeh goal ruled out) by VAR don't hold out much hope of major changes. However maybe with just the thought of it fully functioning may change players behaviour.

Luca will sort this and Tompkins does not stand for any crap We should look to the FA to use their powers and summons players who have gone under the radar for dangerous and sadistic tackles such as the one on wolfs calf... which could have ended his career I’m all for the ‘physical’ battles when seriously challenging for the ball but clearly pre meditated ’launches’ and ‘spiteful’ attack’s such as we have seen need to be sorted and offenders properly sanctioned ( they sorted Suarez out in the end right ? ) Coyp R.I.P dear Staffie

I really am shocked why so many are berating Luca. He had an amazing season last season and had less pre season training than the rest of the squad. Why don’t we get behind our players when they suffer a dip in form rather than try to destroy their confidence and morale with such rubbish. Originally posted by iheartcpfc

Players often suffer a dip in form after the world cup, we need to support Luca I am sure his best form will return.
