First post on here although I’ve been on the BBS for about 15 years.

What’s become evident is that the Holmesdale.net and the BBS are very good examples of how polarised politics has become in microcosm.

The BBS “general chit chat” thread is now increasingly patrolled by frankly Marxist thought police (who largely/strangely don’t seem to show much interest in football) and this forum is clearly not. It’s got to the point where everyone disagreeing with the mob is simply shouted down and subject charges of racism, sexism, islamaphobia or anything that vaguely related.

Although that’s a breath of fresh air it can’t be good that people are just going to places online that just reinforce their own opinions (I suppose, what I’m doing really). Also, the fact that my first post isn’t even football related isn’t a great sign.

I’ve read through a few threads on here and can see people are more reasonable. What encouraged me is that I don’t see evidence of extreme right wing opinions at all and have the same experience in the real world. We are just inceasingly a less racist, sexist etc country and increasingly so all the time. It’s just socially unacceptable.

Incidentally, I wonder how many people are moving between the two forums and which way most are going?

This has been going on for several years.
The problem is not with opinions, everyone is entitled to their own, it is with the BBS moderators.

They have an agenda to ban anyone who regularly expresses an opinion which runs counter to that of 'the mob' of which they are part. The usual accusations of racism etc are just an excuse to claim the moral high ground and enthusiastically use their little bit of power.
A number of posters have been banned on that basis and now reside here where the mods are more neutral and don't suffer from the same ego issues.

The Left wing mob and the BBS/identity politics brigade are allowed to remain and act like total pricks with the protection of the mods. The BBS is now just a Left wing site with any proper opposition removed.
The BBS is a privately owned site but I still believe that it is a disgrace that they are allowed to carry a banner for CPFC. I'd advise anyone to come here instead, where those that care about political issues can debate with fair rules and still talk Palace as well.

That’s a very fair point.

Personally it’s just nice to know that the BBS isn’t what I should expect as the accepted norm. If it is we should look forward to a very Orwellian future.
