Well meaning bloke who puts his foot into it again. He must be taking lessons from Prince Charles.

Last year he criticised pay day lending (I agree) then of course it turns out that the COE had shares in Wonga.

His latest gaffe! Slams Amazon for not paying enough tax, low pay, zero hour contracts and leaching off society. Big surprise COE has millions in Amazon shares. It also turns out that the COE is a low payer and a big user of zero hour contracts. As for paying tax well the COE doesn't.

I am not against the Archbishop speaking out but if he is going to interfere in politics he must expect criticism the same as any other politician. As for not paying tax well isn't there a story about throwing the first stone?

Personally I can’t abide him. He’s one of my few ‘l want to throw a brick at the telly whenever they appear’ people. Diane Abbott is another one. And Mourhino.

He's right to speak out against these things but you can't take him seriously when the CoE can't get their own house in order.

I remember he was speaking out for the living wage at the same time as Canterbury Cathedral were advertising for staff (guess what) payment was below the living wage.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I'm all for the church speaking out - no need for me to agree, but very happy to hear what the leadership think.

Let's have a come-back from the Church.

Declined so much I've almost forgotten about it.

To think after the War, the 50's, the Church was a real force in the land, churches were packed and you had to attend.

It was too much for me and I rebelled.

A life of naked materialism has no spiritual value which we need so much.

Gross! (And that’s not a reference to the latter day Spurs manager and the possibility of a bizarre foursome; although he is a ‘Christian’ of course).

Ah yes; and altar boys were regularly abused by priests. Happy days! (And yes I do understand the difference between the Catholic and Anglican churches).

I used to live next door to a woman who was in the Salvation Army (who do a great job by the way), who used to bang on about the ills of gambling, and also that people these days want everything now, and that she didn't believe that these people should be allowed credit to buy the stuff they wanted. She insisted that everyone should wait and save up for things.

She stopped her preaching after I pointed out that the Sally Army were one of Camelot's top share holders, and when I asked her if she bought her house in cash.

Bloody God Squad are so self righteous, but shut up shop when there's mention of choir boys etc.

God works in mysterious ways I suppose.

Not all priests were up to no good with kiddies.
