Labour have signed up to one of the most ridiculous documents I've seen.

Rules on how you can describe a foreign state.

Free speech in this country has been suffering since Blair and now we have minority interest groups dictating who can say what about whom.

'To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.'

No real shock, and I expect plenty of finger-crossing to emerge in the next few weeks but that quote, I am not sure of its heritage. Seen it attributed to a convicted paedo.

What I've seen is far left institutions attack the quote certainly.

If the quote isn't accurate it certainly echos Voltaire's attitudes towards censorship.

The person who said that is a white supremacist, which seems apt in the circumstances.

Also, you might want to look at Voltaire's writing before claiming that. His views were far more subtle. He was all for freedom of the press, etc., but he did not want the masses to have a voice. He clearly set out a case for wisdom to flow from above as he was not keen on the masses or mass democracy.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Just read a more detailed report. And Corbyn's finger crossing moment is there, as clear as day. His amendment and its subsequent rejection.

But for the true believers, then its clear that JC is still their man but was foiled by those pesky centralists.

Gotta hand it to Labour. On both Brexit and now this, they know how to walk the tight-rope of convincing both sides that they really side with them.

It is rather well played. The cult of Jezza continues apace.

So this is labour signing up to the full international definition of anti-semitism?

Seems a good idea to be in line internationally.

Only if you allow it to. Those of us on the Right need to be beyond cautious when it comes to attributing quotes and where we link from. The Left simply cannot debate anything and are experts are diverting attention.

We should give them no ammunition and then refuse to get drawn into the arguments. Lets them bandy whatever names they want. It is merely pissing in the wind of the change that is happening, despite their best efforts. All you need to do is look at what has happened in Italy and increasingly in other parts of Europe (Sweden is going to be the next excuse for Progressive wailing and gnashing of teeth).

To (mis)quote from an incredibly dubious source, 'Tomorrow belongs to us'

Surely that should simply read, if someone is going to quote someone, they should actually look it up before demonstrating their ignorance for all to see.

If you think I’m left wing because I called out a misquote you are nuts.

Who?

Also could you give me some evidence for your views on Voltaire.

Do you regard that quote as being about white supremacy then?

As for 'apt in the circumstances'? What the feck does that mean?

It's clearly about freedom of speech.

Ideally yes but in this modern world of social media the understandable temptation is to just grab what fits your own agenda and regurgitate it. Guilty as charged myself,so no finger pointing here.

For an example of it happening from the Left/Progressive side, one my own pet personal favourites, Yasmin Ali (Bongo) Brown dropped a huge clanger on Twitter recently, posting a picture that was clearly a publicity shot from 'Allo, Allo' with the cast members dressed up in Nazi uniforms and claiming it as more evidence of the growing influence of the Far-Right in the UK.

Happens to the best of us. Trick is to understand that sometimes the concept of 'mea culpa' is the best one to adopt, be more cautious next time and move on.

And me even responding to you shows I am not immune from getting dragged in either.
