I would say, let him go. If he is ever to play in the PL again on a regular basis then he needs to be playing football, although I sort of doubt he will ever reach that level again. Roy praised his performance last night but to be honest that match was probably of championship standard at best. There is of course an argument to say he is half decent cover, but he is behind so many players in the pecking order that the league cup is likely to be one of his only opportunities.

He was a great player for us but if he isn't going to get anything other than the occasional cup game, a loan to a Championship club makes sense.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

If he goes for a season then comes back as a coach / ambassador for the club then no issues. He is a cracking gent and has signed countless programmes for my kids after matches.. quote Doc Brown "What players you got who score and then cry bruv?"

For a start he's only just 32, so he'll hardly be hanging his boots up yet, and secondly, why do we have to offer anyone a job for life?
