If everybody in this world could be given the chance to earn a profession from a talent they have then god forbid this world. Their are hundreds and hundreds of young boys and girls out there that dream of becoming a professional footballer, not everybody is given that golden chance. It really does make my bloody boil, when you hear players not turning up for training because they have heard that other clubs are interested in them. This is now becoming a common paractice from these highly payed earners. The disgusting behaviour of Riyad Mahrez last season to force a move to Man City, the Chelsea goal keeper Thibaut Courtois is refusing to train because he wants a move, to name a few.

Roll on the first club that has the courage to sue the player for breach of contract. What they are doing is not 'striking', it is simply failing to fulfil their contractual obligations, but for some reason footballers' contracts seem to have no real standing or meaning when the chips are down. I know that you can't force a reluctant player to give his best performance if he's in 'sulking' mode, and it would be pretty difficult to prove that he wasn't, but totally failure to turn up for training or any other preparation for a match, should surely be enforceable?

If I was a chairman/ owner of a football club I would stay away from these so called professionals. You need to have a word with Steve Parish then as both Wayne Hennessy and Yohan Cabaye went on strike at previous clubs in order to force a move so if we do end up buying Jordan Ayew we will probably be the market leader in employing ex strikers

I mentioned this is a previous thread. I don’t think it’s the players, it’s just the agents last throw of the dice and often works. If you look at Payet, Cabaye, Mahrez, van Dyke etc.... they all got their moves. It’s not nice, but modern football. I will say, when a club wants rid of a player, they can be just as harsh making them play in the u23, sending them on youth tours etc... I think personally our treatment of Jordan Mutch has been a bit tasteless. I admit, he wasn’t great but I think it is insulting to let a professional footballer who we have paid 5.5m for on 35k a week not train with the first team. But again, it’s modern football and he is now out on loan off the wage bill.

Cortois is just playing the game, his stock increased significantly after the world cup winning the golden glove and Real Madrid are a bigger club. Really Chelsea should offer him an improved contract and show more ambition in the transfer market if they want to keep world class players, or if he wants to go just let him go and take the cash, trying to keep him is just a waste of everybodies time

You think his motivation to down tools and force a move is so he can be close to his estranged family. I think it's an added convenience rather than the reason
