Infowars has been banned from Apple, Facebook, Youtube and Spotify, all within a 12 hour timeframe that strongly suggests some soft of media collusion. To me this appears to be an attempt to influence the mid term elections by shutting off one of the main Trump cheerleaders and attack dogs on the democratic media. Also this is also a plain old attack on free speech and also an anti trust issue with media companies ganging together to ban an ideological competitor. Now I'm no supporter of Alex Jones.....mainly over the 'Sandy Hook' and '9/11' comments. I agree with all the criticism he received for that. However, he has the right to an opinion and the right to air it.

Which is why the Right need to start coming together and boycotting a variety of companies along with supporting others. I am also not a fan of info-wars, for a variety of reasons, but the collusion against it cannot be ignored.

As for private companies....Well, actually private companies can't do many many things by law. As for who they 'allow' on their platforms when they constitute a monopoly I don't personally believe they actually do have this right. There are going to be consequences for them here. As for calling me a snowflake.....coming from a short beta male I'll take it with a smile. For you education, a snowflake is someone who reacts emotively and hyperbolicly to a situation. I'm here discussing an issue and its implications. The snowflakes tend to be on your side of the fence....if you could only look over it you might understand that. There are already completing companies like Gab, BitChute and Twitch, However, running companies like Youtube for example comes at a massive loss.....it needs something like Google behind it covering those losses. One real change will come when Trump leaves Twitter.....that will feck them and bring a huge number away from the platform. Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Aug 2018 9.45am)

A good analysis here: All these platforms have hate-speech rules so they had the prerogative to get rid of Alex Jones a while ago. They were afraid of the 'conservative backlash', but eventually Apple went for it. And then the others followed. It was a matter of who blinks first.

In the political sphere these are applied through a biased lens and they are an affront to free speech anyway. I want to see these companies pay for this.......this is meddling in elections. Free speech does not mean that everyone has the right to say whatever they like, in public. If it encourages violence, or other illegal activity, then it is right to suppress it. You can think whatever you wish, and discuss it with others in private, but if you go public then rules apply. Media platforms are at liberty to set their own standards and decide who they will host and reject those who don't meet them. InfoWars still broadcast on their own platform so have nothing whatsoever to complain about.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Collusion? Conspiracy theorising there. More like Apple jumped and the rest followed once they heard as they considered it the best move commercially. No one wants to be the only one left on that raft.

Most conspiracy theories are in my opinion nonsense. However collusion in the business world is not rare. Perhaps you are right about this, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there was some prior arrangement. Maybe Wikileaks will tell us....or time will reveal either way.
