Long-time Palace supporter from the States... I'm making my way to London with my father for the Wolves match on Oct 6 for our first match at Selhurst. Which stand should we get tickets?

Both of us like to be on our feet and will want to be in chorus with the rest of the faithful that day. Don't want to be sitting on our hands with the family/visiting/older groups of supporters. Should we look at Holmesdale end near the HF's? How are the X,Y,Z sections in Arthur Wait? Any other recs?

Also, I've heard the Clifton Arms is closed to season tickets holders only on match days? Where else would you recommend for us to dive in and have a few before heading to the match?

Can't wait to see the boys play in person. Thanks in advance

Welcome Stateside. I am no expert on this so I may get corrected, I do not think you will get tickets near the HF but the Arthur Waite stand generally has a good atmosphere.
With regard to pubs try the Holmesdale in Selhurst Road, it's the pub frequented by the HF and I am sure they will make you welcome. Enjoy your visit.

Clifton is open for home supporters with a match ticket not just
season ticket holders

Won't find any of that here, even the kids as young as 6 months have to sing or the stewards will kick them out. That's just how we do it over on this side of the water.

I better not! To get the whole experience, where would you recommend we sit/stand?

You can’t go wrong with either the Holmesdale, or the Arthur close to the Holmesdale.
Where are you getting your tickets? If it is thru The International
Membership and you request Lower Holmesdale, you will likely
Be the opposite end from those standing in Block B, C.
But these are still great seats and pretty well the whole ground
Is enveloped in great atmosphere.
Get your tickets early and go to Clifton, they won’t let you
In without a ticket. The HF pub us good too, just not as busy.
Good luck and all the best,
Simon

i'm piggy backing off of this as i too am coming for the first time.

december game. it's 10 year anniversary and i'm using that as an excuse to take wifey to london and she has to go to a game with me.

so 2 parter:

1. how to get tickets. and where to drink beforehand?

2. any touristy recommendations? we're only going to be there a few days. i know the typical stuff but don't know what's worth it and what's not. i'm sure we'll see a show one of the evenings.

thanks.

Nairb75,

If I can, I'll write a review on this thread of our travels/match experience so that you'll have it from the eyes of a first-time Yank at SP.

Up the Palace!
