Jadon, Kyraze, Sherelle, twenty seven different ways to spell Ayeesha etc.. Fashionable names are always sh*te - it used to be Wayne, Dale and Dean - all signs of low breeding, now people don't just lift names off their fav film or TV show they make them up! Scandalous. Jog on Kyron. Your worst made-up names please, and I'm on hols till early August but I will try not to post too much verbal diarrhoea in all this spare time - though I don't find it easy.

Putting the kid at a disadvantage. There’s a chapter on this in ‘Freakonomics.’ Mind you, I see these named people filling in applications for jobs rather than creating a cv. Or that’ll be what they have to do because of the stupid parents. Parenting is the most important job in the world and unfortunately the only one you don’t need to show you’re suitable for the role. As long as you can screw a degenerate idiot you can be a parent.

I met a lad who was called Tron by his parents. When he got to about 10 years-old, he said he wanted to be called by a very traditional name instead and opted for that. The random spelling of names is annoying. It also means the child /adult has to correct people's spelling of the name for the rest of their lives. It's a very strange and inconvenient way to show off personal "individuality". Giving names which may haunt the child in the future is another mistake. I met an "Angel" who was a very disruptive pupil for example.

My wife is Jullie and the spelling is due to her daft father who couldn't spell and thought that it was spelt that way. I do wish the registrar of births had questioned the spelling at the time though

Double-barrelled forenames are the ones that get me: Kaylee-Jayne Charlie-May or kids named after the place/direction of their conception: Brooklyn, North or Grimsby and then there's the ones that make them sound more like pets than children: Blaze, Hero or Joey What's so wrong with Antony or Mavis, Neville or Agnes?

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |
