We did really well last season with Zaha and Townsend working together, the whole squad just gelled together so why on earth somebody please tell me why are talking to Newcastle about selling Townsend. Why are we not renewing Bakary Sako’s contract.
This totally doesn’t make sense..
Why don’t we just sell Zaha, McArthur , Dann, Schlupp, Bisaka and then let’s bring in a whole new set of players and fingers crossed they gel together.
I don’t understand why when we have a set of players that are playing so well together why we would want to break this up.

You’re reacting to a report in the Sun. And over reacting at that. If Newcastle want to offer for Townsend we talk, even if only to say no.

Not one of the replies addresses what I was getting at and that is why are we even considering selling our best players I am not talking about the money I am talking about why are we even considering selling any of our top players.
And by the way I am not over reacting I am just trying to get a conversation going on why we are even talking to Newcastle we should categorically be telling them that Townsend is not for sale period.

Do you understand how the football world works, the club has little say. If a player and his agent want to leave, there is very little a club can do about it.

It's not that difficult

You sell your best players if you think that on balance it is best for club e.g. you can replace with better or they are unsettled and want to move to bigger club e.g Coutinho

Townsend is OK but hardly earth-shattering. His biggest asset is that he stays fit and he is probably our open play best crosser in the air - which wasn't that helpful last year given Benteke's shortcomings
