So i have watched all the game except Russia/Saudi Arabia. France got a VAR decision in their favour, and rightly so. So, begs the question, what are those 6 guys in ref shirts in front of TV's behind the dugout actually doing ?

They are doing what is typical of all football officialdom; they are demonstrating incompetence.

I think the idea is that the ref has ultimate control as they always have done, VAR is only there if the ref did not see an incident clearly enough and needs a second opinion. I don't wanna see some nobody behind a screen making refereeing decisions, the France penalty was contentious even with VAR so it should be up to the ref, you can't have conflicting opinions Also I see alot of players remonstrating with refs to look at the replays, that's a road we don't wanna go down, if the ref didn't have the ultimate say, you would see it more often I feel?

The biggest gripe I've got about it (until England play no doubt) is the inconsistencies of what people call it. It's V. A. R., not var you pleb Rio Ferdinand. They both got a penalty anyway, and both missed them, so no big deal. I don't think Argentina should've had one if it's the supposed handball you're referring to?

Milovojevic slapped in the face intentionally. reviewed by VAR, no action. 2 mins later Serbia played barely touches a guys face in play. VAR- booking . No sense

Maybe the players and their feigning and simulation have to take some of the blame? I am convinced that a lot of players practice "being fouled" and "self fouling" to win a penalty. Ronaldo v Spain: in my opinion no pen. Kane against Lpool, Vardy v Arsenal in Leicester winning season other examples of players tripping themselves. I have a solution: twofold: pen only if there is a goal scoring chance, bans, and proper bans if repeated, for offenders. VAR to be relentlessly used for reviewing and banning offenders. This feigning and diving is awful. France were shocking. Absolutely terrible. It’s cheating. End of.

Two clears penalties tonight. Not too short of all-in-wrestling. VAR working well.......
Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers |

Still seems to me a lot of decisions are 50/50 which not sure is what VAR should be for? One positive has been that is hasn't taken long for decisions to be made or really disrupted he game. No idea why the Kane fouls weren't given - you can be sure they would be in the Premier league for example.

I can deal with var at the World Cup, what is now starting to irritate me is the constant talk about it from commentators and studio pundits, it’s now more prevalent than the game itself and that to me is damaging. They need to lighten off on the subject a bit now and not spend the whole show treating it as more important than the any goal mouth incidents etc

my look on VAR in the world cup is, the refs you have out there, have had very little experience with the system, not sure but i think we have used it more here than abroad have,
