Hi and sorry for intruding on your forum We (Local residence from Lancing and Shoreham in West Sussex) need your support in stopping Brighton and Hove Albion developing 600 homes and an Ikea in our small Village We are a population of 19'000 Fighting against this development of which the football club is using its fan base to push this through. How can you help? Well if you could spare 10 minutes of your time reading through the issues we face from this catastrophic development here: And then submitting an objection via the local planning portal here: The football club are looking to use this development to re-coup the £200 million pound investment made by Tony Bloom at the expense of our community I know its a long shot but if you can help support us by reading about the development and making an objection on the planning application link it would be greatly appreciated. Football is a great sport but it should not be used to influence developments that will have long standing effects on communities. Thank you for your time

If Brighton build an IKEA on their training ground does that mean they'll be playing with a flat pack four?
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Whilst I have sympathy for the poster I don't think it fair that people who do not live in the area should have a say both for or against. I would be unhappy if Brighton fans started objecting to our new stand and I think someone mentioned we had 2 objections from Scotland. These days any idiot it appears can put their oar in. This is a local development and should be sorted out by the locals without outside interference. Edited by Badger11 (15 Jun 2018 12.26pm)

Whilst I agree with your comment Badger11 this isn't the standard lets put in a building application and watch it pass, the local community have objected but the club asked the fans via there website and programmes to go onto the portal to support the application, again not many of them will be affected by it. So what's good for the goose is good for the gander

So what's good for the goose is good for the gander I understand your sentiments and one would hope that the Council are aware of the actions of TB. However I also understand where Badger11 is coming from... in Horsham we are fighting to stop a large incinerator being built (apparently the chimney is taller than the Eifel Tower) can we expect the residents of Lancing/Shoreham supporting us? I doubt it and why should they.

I would be more than happy to sign am objection if there is one for an incinerator in Horsham, Horsham is definitely not the area for an Incinerator and I would actually read any case on any development and make a for or against decision if the facts are there I think the links I posted spoke for themselves. The Traveller site (Actually a static sites so not sure why there called travellers) is already there next to the main road and they want to move the site to a new location to place the Ikea on that site. All be it a much smaller area for the "Travellers" to move there static homes too. Originally posted by Spiderman

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |
