Could it be palace ?
Sunderland have turned down a second bid from Brighton for midfielder Paddy McNair, this time for £3.5m. The Premier League club failed with a £2m bid for the Northern Ireland international earlier this week.

In addition, Sunderland have turned down a separate bid of £3.75m for McNair, this time from an unnamed London club. We understand Sunderland are looking for upwards of £4m for the player.

I am not so sure. Could be a good squad member, a good replacement for Damien. Potentially a good gamble. Bargain if it pays off.

A very versatile player.
Can play as holding midfielder, at right-back and at centre-half.
Someone I spoke to the other day about McNair said he was playing as a No 10 at Man Utd when he was young but ended up playing at centre-half for their U21s.

Yeah....about that....I have a problem with these players who can supposedly play on many positions, but in fact don't play well on either.

Many examples. Italians often do this with fullbacks who are supposed to play on both flanks. But they aren't really good anywhere, like Darmian or Santon or de Sciglio.

Phil Jones is supposedly able to play as right back too. Is he any good at it? Or John O'shea? Or Wes Brown? Part of the reason Sir Alex was asked to step down was putting them there.

Never heard of any pressure on Ferguson to "Step down".Be interested to know the source of this statement.
In actual fact both Brown and O'Shea departed Man Utd in 2011 and Ferguson never retired until May 2013 !

Didn’t Sir Alex win the league in his last season? Are you seriously suggesting that he was asked to step down in a season when he won the Premiership because he played John Oshea and Wes Brown at right back??

It is an extraordinary statement.
I am also in a state of incredulity.

Yes Man Utd won the league in Ferguson's last season, finishing 11 pts clear of Man C.

Like Milner, Moses Azpiliqueta, Dier and Blind to name a handful?

Utility players are incredibly useful. 1 squad place and you have cover in several areas. We hadn’t Fosu-Mensah last season and that is helpful to a smaller squad like ours.

As for the comments regarding SAF, that’s absolute bollocks.

Absolute rubbish, there is no way that Ferguson would have been asked to step down. There would have been a players revolt if that was the case, Can you honestly see the Manchester United players past and present excepting that.
