As an ex-Palace player, would he make a good manager for us?
He's just won back-to-back promotions with Livingston.

I remember thinking he’d be a great Premiership player for us. I was at Wembley Stadium at the time...

(Open to correction on whether it was called ‘Premiership’ or ‘Premier League’ back then)

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Anyone who thinks managing a little club in the lower Scottish leagues is grounding for managing a Premiership team has lost their senses.

It never has been the Premiership. That term refers to the Prime Ministers job. Although fans often, incorrectly, use the term for the Premier League, so it seems to have become accepted.

I’m afraid you are wrong, my friend. This from the Premier League’s own website - history section:

“From the 1993/94 season, England’s top flight was known as the FA Carling Premiership, before the sponsorship changed in 2001 to Barclaycard until 2004.

The title of the competition then changed to the FA Barclays Premiership, with this being amended to Barclays Premier League ahead of the 2007/08 campaign.”

It has never been the Premiership though. FA Carling/Barcaycard/Barclays Premiership, but never the Premiership. As I said, that is Mrs Mays job at the moment.

Mrs May’s job is Prime Minister.
