Any idea where/what he is going to be doing? Turned up here 6 years ago looking for a game. Became a Palace legend. Who can forget his performance against DaCosta at Chelsea, his leadership, his blocks help in keeping us up. We rescued his career and he rescued us in return. Thanks so much Damo.

I was going to start a thread on this. Amazed it has taken this long. He came up with us; and has been along the whole bumpy journey. He got so many MotM awards and kept us in so many games. We owe him a great deal - and I wish him all the best.

Think we saved more than just Damo’s career as his speech intimated yesterday. He was in a dark spot when Dougie gave him a call to come and train. He was done with the game and didn’t even want to turn up to train with us as he had made his mind up to walk away from football in this country. Dougie got him a lot a squad number and threw him into the next match without telling him til the day before. He never looked back after that game. Thanks for eveything you’ve done for Palace Damo you Palace legend!

Did an unexpected brilliant job for a good few years in the Prem. Always loved his commitment and it was nice to hear him speak on Sunday.

Delaney, Ramage and Jedinak set a standard in their attitude and commitment which permeated the club and enabled Roy to make the most of the talent available to him as despite poor results that was never lost. We owe a lot to all three.

Warrior, hero, legend. So much to teach youngsters, about character and commitment, both on and off the pitch. Hope he stays part of the Palace family, in some capacity. Big love, Damo.

Clint Hill, Sean Derry, Alan Lee, Paddy Mac, Mile Jedinak, Damien Delaney amongst others set a standard of team spirit from our darkest days into the current era. Whenever that spirit has subsided we have struggled. If Stoke City had more characters like DD in their side they simply wouldn't have gone down and that is a lesson we should take on board when upgrading the players that have got us where we are. Having a higher profile and more cash may attract more ability but a team spirit can be worth so much more. I hope there are characters within the squad who have learnt from him and recognise the importance of the values he has brought. What a guy

What a guy Tomkins, Wilf, Townsend, PVA, Jimmy Mac, even Hennessey has upped his game. I’ve also heard Punch is doing everything to impress Roy and be a good, obedient little boy.

I think the word Legend gets thrown around to easy these days, but certainly not with Delaney. He hasn't been here for years and years but the likes of him Jedi Speroni changed palace for the better they all truly bought into the club and i think help changed the attitude of the squads they were involved with. I think we were all worried once they left that so will their attitude and the togetherness but feel in Luka, Tomkins, Sakho, Wilf (and many more) that we have a squad all pulling in the same direction and willing to fight for each other and much of that is owed to the likes of Delaney... Legend!

I hope we see him invited back to Selhurst many times in the future, the affinity he has for the club is clear. Good luck with whatever's next.
Optimistic as ever |
