Great end to the season, well done done Roy and the team.

While we've had plenty of yellow cards this season, we've gone another whole season without a red card - straight or double yellow.

Only Burnley can match that stat this term.

Our yellow card total lands us third in the season's list at 72 cards, behind West Ham and West Brom on 73.

But when it come to reds, you have to look back to the 2015/2016 season where Dwight Gayle got a double yellow/red against West Ham and Pape Soare saw a straight red in added time at home v Watford.

With how slim our chances of survival have seemed at times during this season and last, this red card bonus must have played a part. 11 players for 90 minutes during all matches and an absence of the resultant match bans. Heck we've had enough injuries to worry about without major discipline bans to consider.

Think it was only Luka who got a cumulative yellow ban this season.

Of course there's many other factors behind our successive relegation survivals, but not seeing red is surely one.

An important factor at times. We beat Watford at home basically because Cleverley got sent off; and Leicester were just starting to manage when Alseaweed rugby-tackled Wilf and then they collapsed.

Benteke missed Swansea away after getting 5 yellows.

But it is a great record though especially, as you stated, that we've been battling relegation all that time.

Yes you're right eritheagle. I missed Benteke.

That did seem a harsh one on Tekkers to be fair. Spends whole matches being roughed up by defenders.

Whereas with Luka, the role he plays in midfield kind of hoovers up yellows. He did well (or was clever) to avoid a second yellow at times.

I think they concluded that it was for pussies.

Bring back Claude Davis. A man who lived by the motto, 'if you're going to get sent off, leave a scar'.

They got rid of it a couple of years ago.

A quick google and i found this

We aren't even close to the top half! We have more disciplinary points than Leicester, who got 5 reds, and Chelsea who have 6!

Not surrising when we have such a prolific diver.
