'It is absolutely true that there are many bad things in this world. The number of conflict fatalities has been falling since the second world war, but the Syrian war has reversed this trend. Terrorism too is rising. Overfishing and the deterioration of the seas are truly worrisome. The list of endangered species is getting longer.

But while it is easy to be aware of all the bad things happening in the world, it’s harder to know about the good things. The silent miracle of human progress is too slow and too fragmented to ever qualify as news. Over the past 20 years, the proportion of people living in extreme poverty has almost halved. But in online polls, in most countries, fewer than 10% of people knew this.'

An interesting, and often sidelined point of view. Not to be misconstrued with saying everything is fine, but sometimes it's helpful to take a breath before diving back in.

'Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!'

Nothing to worry about then, in the world you describe in your post.

Except that in a few days there might not be a world at all.

Rolling news, social media, and the internet in general have a lot to answer for in making everything seem a lot worse than it is.

To that end

Sobering to think about but not explicitly relevant in context of the main point being made in the article, as is evident from this quote:

'Just as world leaders and corporate titans gather in the Swiss Alps for the World Economic Forum, the world they influence looks like a pretty ugly and hopeless place right now -- in fact, worse than it's ever looked.'

Of all the things that might be a a sign that the world is changing the greatest thing that is happening right now is the growth in veganism around the world - a movement not influenced by politics or religion but based on altruism - putting others - animals, the planet, those less fortunate than you - first.
Many of the problems in the world such as war or poverty can't be solved by us but we can save billions of animals from living terrible lives in horrific conditions just by changing our diets and, in doing so, reduce our own risk of suffering from disease. Yep, in my opinion just seeing the growth in vegan products, vegan options in restaurants and the number of vegans in the world is one of the best signs that, at least in some ways, the world is changing for the better.

Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.

Gene Roddenberry, would be proud of you.

Star trek utopia, but what about the Klingons, how would you convince that proud race of this?

Would you please do us all a favour and pull this subject from out of your arse.
Veganism is neither good or bad. It is a choice. If more people eat no meat then great. More meat for the rest of us.
