Are there any estate agents on here? Me and my partner are about to rent a new place. We are awaiting references to go through. We just recieved a email saying can we send them 3 months worth of bank statements each. Why would they want this? I think it's a bit personal someone seeing everything we buy etc so I find it a bit strange...

Just send them the cover sheet mate that showed how much has come in and gone out.

It's fair enough that they want you to prove you have steady incomes etc however you don't need to provide them anything else.

Sorry I'm thick haha. What is a cover sheet and how do I get that for 3 months worth?

1. I bank with Lloyds the first page of my statement will show total amount of funds in and funds out that is the cover sheet. The rest breaks down the transactions. What they want is for you and your partner to prove your income and that you can afford the rent.

2. If you have online banking you should be able to print off 3 months. If you do not have online banking and don't keep your bank statement phone customer service and explain what you require.

3. Not sure a cover sheet is acceptable (I don't know) personally I would send them all of the statement this is a credit check after all.

I had to do the same for a job - do it, but tell them no electronic copies and redact anything that's not transactional.
