Forest Hillbilly in a hidey-hole 22 Mar 18 7.04pm | |

I have been impacted by deaths of friends from the age of 8yrs. (I am now 49yrs) The longer you live, the more deaths will happen around you. My most emotional death was to my dog 8 months ago. However, I still maintain I am invincible. I just think, like Gloria Gaynor, I will Survive (unlike SJ's underpants, which are probably beyond repair)
I disengage, I turn the page. |

I just think, like Gloria Gaynor, I will Survive (unlike SJ's underpants, which are probably beyond repair) The death of my little "Bella-end", renamed after Bella from the RSPCA just seemed too dull, was awful. 2 and half years ago and the worst I ever had/felt. I'm 44 and couldn't function for 1 month after it happened. Stabbed through the ribs by a thorn, after pushing herself through a hawthorn bush chasing after a cat in the morning and dying less than 1 hour later. On my very good friends wedding made it all the worse travelling down to London from Derby. Although I do have (the now enjoyable) anecdote of telling everyone I am a very emotional guy who weeps at weddings. At the time, my girlfriend pointed out I wept due to the death of my dog on the way to the wedding...miserable cow! I feel your pain and understand. I don't have that unshakable belief. That is unfortunate and I know my end will come. On the plus side I want to make the most of what time I have here.

"Some day soon, perhaps in forty years, there will be no one alive who has ever known me. That’s when I will be truly dead – when I exist in no one’s memory. I thought a lot about how someone very old is the last living individual to have known some person or cluster of people. When that person dies, the whole cluster dies, too, vanishes from the living memory. I wonder who that person will be for me. Whose death will make me truly dead?” ― Irvin D. Yalom, Love’s Executioner and Other Tales of Psychotherapy
Nope it's not my name |

I am hoping to become a paralympian and have started to amputate a few limbs in order to achieve this goal. I am not sure what will come first, a gold medal or death.

Yalom, Love’s Executioner and Other Tales of Psychotherapy I don't like to dwell like most people I guess. However I have noticed that most of my friends / circle are older than me. I have a feeling that I will be last man standing. Still as I don't want a funeral service it doesn't matter if no one turns up. I think this is a morbid topic and I am sorry for the OP's loss. As we say in Yoga we come into the world on a breath and our final breath is an act of release. It is how we fill the time in between that matters.

I always assumed you were older, not sure why. Anyway, yes as we get older we see more of it. Sorry to hear of your brothers passing. I don't want to go yet, not ready, but who knows?

100% of people who breathe die. Sad, but true. And the closer you get to it the less you worry about it. Just wait til you get to my age.........
