This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wilf withdraws from IC squad' by Midlands Eagle

the club say he pulled out of the IC squad

[Link]

but the standard go a whisker further saying he "returned from international duty" "amid injury fears".

The player himself said his knee was "throbbing" when he went off v Hudds.

here's hoping it's precautionary

Good. Better safe than sorry. But your right abut Huddersfield. Two games and Zaha is battered in both. I hope they go back down.

Wilf hopefully will fully recover in time for the Liverpool game and I agree with you in the hope that Huddersfield go down.

I am sorry to say something against someone who has done great things for the club under really hard circumstances, but if Zaha misses more game time, its on Hodgson.

Now I understand goal difference is a factor, and maybe if they scored a late one we might want a third on the break to settle it. I also understand that in Wilf we have a ball carrier which helps you get out of constant defending and get up the pitch.

However, Huddersfield were awful, all day. We totally dominated them and they had 2 lame shots on target the whole game.

It seems so crazy to me that having already been fouled a lot in the game, that RH didnt make the decision to take the guy off.

Its like Hodgson thinks making tactical substitutions except when forced by injury is somehow admitting some kind of fault.

I cannot understand leaving Zaha out there in that game, and if he is crocked (I hope and expect he will be ok for Liverpool given the time off now) then Hodgson has to look in the mirror and take accountability for that bizarre decision to leave him on late in that game.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

I do not disagree that Wilf should have been subbed when we went 2-0 up but that said without Roy’s management we would be in dire straits indeed!

Have to agree, as much as I love Roy, he should have been hooked a lot earlier.

It was 2-0 so yes. If it was 2-1 then maybe not.

It was very late he got even more hurt.

Should've stayed in England in the first place. He's too loyal and we're too soft with players sometimes.

Totally agree, and mentioned it previously - Hodgson's substitution policy is clueless.

Hopefully Wilf has taken a leaf from the Ryan Giggs handbook on International football. Cry off injured and then rise like Lazarus for your club.

The thing that troubles me, Badger, is that according to the Evening Standard he had traveled to be with the Ivory Coast squad. That doesn't have the hallmarks of a Ryan Giggs-style bunking-off-duty situation. Giggs would just phone in sick as soon as he came off the pitch for Man U.

As for those who say Wilf should have been hooked earlier, yes. He should have been hooked the second the second went in. It would also have given Loftus-Cheek more time to get match fit.
