Soon after Ron Noades took over at Palace, as part of a charm offensive he put on an event at the old supporters club. Top of the bill that day was Jim Bowen who was probably at the height of his fame at that time. Jim did about 20 minutes of as blue a stand up as I've ever heard. Didn't go down well with the mostly family audience !
