I done a thread earlier about tonight being one of the hardest to take of my life. Now I’ve calmed down, because we don’t know
What the impact of it is going to be, I’m not sure it is,it could be but hopefully not. I’m going to list my top 5 hardest to take defeats of my 29 year old life. I’m going to give you a bit of background first. I’m a die hard fan. Like you all. But I’m obsessed. I was worse when I was younger. I would watch the teletext from the age of 4 waiting for the score to change to e.g, c palace 1-0 port vale. I would do this every week, just watch, Tuesday nights aswell if I was lucky. Then cam Gillette soccer special. Fantastic. Doing this from an early age I believe helped that I now have a photographic memory. At the age of 4 I could speak every result from the days football, Scottish leagues premier league and al the way down to the conference.
Anyway, sorry to babble on, but this was obviously a skill ( the memory) but along with became a obsession. With palace. If we lost, I was evil, it would effect me so badly. It still does, but I can control it better. I remember once, we didn’t even lose, the game for postponed (v Luton) I went to my room with a knife and calves lines all through the wallpaper. You can imagine what I was like if we lost!!!

I’m going to give you a few results in my life that effected me really badly, I’m not going to include tonight..... yet...

In order- palace 2-2 Southampton 2005. Nikolai Ventola scores to make it 2-1 in the 89th/90th minute. The crowd is still celebrating when Danny Higginbotham goes and equalises down the other end. I sat in the isle in the Arthur wait crying. Hope was not lost, all we had to do was beat chsrlton next week....

Palace 1-2 Man Utd fa cup final. Puncheon scores with 12 mins left, we all know what happens next

Leicester 2-1 palace play off final, should clarifies goal really have been allowed? Coaches and management were still in the pitch,

Palace 2-3 Nottingham forest, year 2000!!! Bit of a meaningless game in the grand scheme of things but this got me!! We were 3-0 and battled back to 3-2. We get a last minute penalty, Julian gray scores, or has he?? Penalty ordered to be re taken and the rest is history!! He misses!! One of the most frustrating and horrific
Moments I have witnessed.

Hope you enjoyed that, made me feel better about tonight.

Not been back long after the game.
Bloody long drive in the dark to the south coast after a defeat.

Desperately disappointing to lose in the dying embers especially after being 2-0 to the good.

We really should have settled for the 2-2 at the end by taking the ball into the corners and killing the game off.Players worked so hard and looked really fatigued at the end.Cruel on the management, the players and us poor supporters.

1990 Cup Final replay. Gutting. Absolutely gutting.

1996 Play off Final - just when we thought it was going to penalty shoot out, Claridge shinned it in the 120th minute. And knowing that because of it, a whole another year in the 2nd Division.

2012 League Cup Semi Final. 120 minutes of dirge to get to penalties against Cardiff, then the most feeble, pathetic penalties ever. Jermaine Easter I am looking ata you in particular.

5-0 at home to Wimbledon in 1985. I was living in Edmonton north London at the time and it was a very long and depressing journey home.

The home game against Saints in 2005. That last minute leveller by them just ruined me. Couldn’t speak the whole way back. Somehow it just got to me more than the game at the valley the week after. I just felt that the Southampton game was our chance to stay up and we almost won it.

Cup final replay and relegation at Highbury make up my top three.

Remember this game. Lots of chants of “Noades Out” in the Old Stand and a very ugly atmosphere. Coppell’s first season I think.

In the days of dear old Big Mal.
Last game of the season away against Cardiff City.
We needed a win and Cardiff needed one point to avoid relegation to the third division.
Palace went 1-0 up,only for Cardiff to hit back,FT 1-1.
An awful night and an awful train journey home.
