was on this morning. he didn't sound very chipper. short interview. one of the hosts is rodney marsh. * what's going on with CP? massive injuries. a few should be back in the next 2-ish weeks. * marsh: "i was in the pub last week with a CP supporter. he said the club are only ever in crisis management and don't have long term plans. response?" SP: "nonsense." (he was pretty snarky). we're looking for balance - investing in new stadium + trying to stay in the league. don't have the resources of everton but that's where we're trying to get. peers are also struggling this year - no real difference between most of the clubs. it appears it's a crisis when you have to buy 1st choice players but that's how it works in the PL. - he really sounded bitter at the question. tone of "woe is me." * zaha? we can win games without him but he's obviously a key player. RLC is improving. schlupp will be back soon and he's a massive help in getting results. *next 3-4 games are going to be difficult. what do you need to get through it? roy will get us through. he believes in the squad and you can see the players and supporters giving it everything they have. tough matches but confident we can get results.

I tuned in for this one aswell. Parish's indignance when asked about the strategy of the club and the constant lurching from one relegation dog fight to the next was pure comedy. Its also worrying. Sometimes you cant see the wood for the trees. I really wonder about Parish sometimes and the way he looks at things. How you can say "nonsense" to someone asking about a seemingly complete lack of joined up and long term thinking when we are in the state we are in. 24 players in our squad currently (am I right about that??) The striker and goalkeeper fiascos of late. The FDB joke. Patting himself on the back after reaching a deal with Guaita, when we desperately need cover NOW. That seems very blinkered to me to release a statement like that when the manager said 50 times he wanted a goalie signing in January, not August. Just re-watched his video on youtube after appointing FDB. Its cringeworthy knowing how things actually turned out. He was so, so wrong on every count of what he thought, and what led him to the decision. Note - apparently if you want the Palace manager job you need to fly Parish into a ritzy villa somewhere looking out on the med and get a nice powerpoint on the go. I wish dearly we had someone pulling the strings at the club who would not make the mistake of the magnitude of FDB in a month of Sundays. Edited by Maine Eagle (26 Feb 2018 7.26pm)

the FDB thing was terrible. i'm pretty forgiving on a lot of things. he is correct that other peers are having similar struggles. however, i just can't understand allowing the CF and GK situation. why not just keep frazier campbell? why not pluck any decent GK from the championship? he can't find one at all last summer? in the whole world?

I think he gives it his best. He’s made mistakes but done his best to correct them. A large part of his time and efforts recently must have gone into the plans for the stadium and to hear someone saying the club has no long term plans must rightly piss him off. The GK and CF position are a little hard to explain other than having too much confidence in the 11th hour of the window.

Have been a big supporter of SP but beginning to wane now. He has to take criticism along with adoration and not be so patronising to fans who dare speak out against him.

He never learns from his mistakes just repeats them time and time again, spending all his time on new stadium is not much good if your in the championship with much reduced income!

This is what I am saying, only morons and people too arrogant cannot ever learn from their countless mistakes. We tried to sign Ronnow last minute and got burned again. There is no excuse.

knowing people that have had dealings with SP nothing to do with football they said he was the most difficult person to try and speak with. in the end they gave up and went with another party also the company now wont do any dealings with him (this was many years ago) The guy does get a lot of people on his case but that his own making he chose that role so that is what you get he shouldn't even be engaging. He always claims to speak to the people like no other club yet he wont give us the full picture and gets aggressive when people want answers. That interview is prime example why say nonsense he could of explained and plans for the stadium and try to explain about transfer market deals but he doesn't it's all hush hush which is how these people like to operate they dont want you to know the full going ons. The guy should know his place and that is like most owners step back into the dark while others that are experienced/qualified do the running's (look at the clubs that allow owners to be like this they are a mess and non Premier league)

Edited by Maine Eagle (26 Feb 2018 7.26pm) I hear you there but I also note that SP was very candid when he acknowledged this as a mistake. Didn't seem to me that he tried to make and excuse or cover it up - he admitted he got it completely wrong, from what I seem to remember.

If or when we are relegated, it will be his fault and his alone, he has allowed us to enter this current campaign with only one fit striker and with a manager that was on another planet, then he failed to deliver the six players Roy wanted in the last transfer window, last weekend showed how feeble we are, so much so that poor Roy had to put DD on for the last few minutes after Tomkins was taken off because he had no other option, even though he knows DD is too slow and well past his retirement date! Come on Steve man up and admit you are not up to your role as you see it!

Listen - without Steve Parish Palace would have been somewhere in the championship or league 1 - he has saved the club and deserves every backing
