BBC reporting he’s been suspended and club starting investigation into disciplinary matter after receiving information. No complaints from academy members or parents. Innocent til proven guilty of whatever but sounds a little concerning.

Other sources report member of staff over hearing under 18’s talking about him showering “in the same area”. Hopefully this is just a bulls*** over reaction of a misunderstanding as no complaints made by anyone against him and club forced to follow a standard protocol. If as hoped it’s an innocent misunderstanding feel sorry for the bloke. Do they still have communal showers these days?

FFS. “Incident” happened at an away ground where there were not separate showering facilities for players and coaches. Mention of a lurid comment (maybe a s*** gag?) and suspicion of a personal vendetta. Sounds like maybe a poor judgement call but no suggestion of wrong doing. After what he’s done for the club to leave as a result of a personal vendetta if cleared by the investigation would be terrible.

According to the times it was at an away fixture where there wasn’t seperate facilities for the staff to shower in.

After all the recent scandals around this there’s no chance the club would take this lightly even if it would appear easily explained.

The reputation and legal ramifications are too great

They’ve got no option but to suspend him during the investigation but hopefully they can conclude things very quickly and announce, if it is as it looks, that it was an innocent, possibly naive, misunderstanding (everyone’s been interviewed, no one has complained about his behaviour). Didn’t realise he’s been with us twenty years. An accusation like this can permanently taint his reputation even if completely innocent. I hope he sits tight and doesn’t walk if innocent but he must be going through hell.

Would you rather an 'over reaction' to an innocent instance or a blind eye turned to predatory behaviour?

If he's innocent it should be quite easily established through the investigation that's evidently going on. I think the suspension is appropriate, it's certainly a poor judgement on his part. It's not a lack of common sense.

It works both ways doesn't it? Would you take a shower with under age youths in your care? In the modern era you have to say that isn't very sensible.

One of our secondary school teachers also gave us squash lessons after school, and always showered with us in a communal shower room. This was only in the 90's.

Ii wouldn't do it, but it's crazy how attitudes about what is and isn't acceptable change so quickly.

It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
