This may not belong on here but !!!
My 18 yr old lad diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at midday.
By 3 o'clock he's in hospital with all medication and care to hopefully bring it under control.
Big up to Medway hospital.
Thank you guys and girls.xxx

Hold on don't you mean he spent hours on a trolley unattended whilst the Tories plotted to sack staff and privatise services?

Seriously good luck to the lad make sure he looks after his extremities (eyes and toes).

Great to hear a good news story about the NHS.

I think we need a BBC exposé on this.

Thanks for the messages
We as a family are going to have to educate ourselves on something that never 'affects you'.
Advice will be seriously appreciated along with any helpful and readable links to web sites or literature on the shelf.
Poor lad has a lifetime of self care to participate in and if I could take it for him I would as all of us as parents would I'm sure.
Anyhow yes I will praise good examples and I'm pleased to say in less than 24 hrs he has had the attention of multiple nursing staff two doctors and two consultants all showing an amount of care and concern that he needs.
This must be the norm not the exception I'm sure.
Again thanks and onwards and upwards.

It’s early days, and of course a great shock for you and your boy, but there are some very encouraging stories out there about how this condition can be managed. Good luck to you all.

Whilst it's true that there is no cure and a lifetime of medication is on the cards it doesn't affect peoples' lifestyles as much as it used to. Steve Redgrave has type 1 diabetes and he is our most successful Olympian

Best wishes to you and your son.Treatment of diabetes certainly seems to be progressing and will hopefully benefit him.
I have a daughter working in the N.H.S and am impressed by her commitment and hours put in. The system is so vast there will always be weaknesses, but my own experiences and what my daughter reports deserve credit.
