Roy says one of Schlupp and Townsend is on crutches the other in a boot.

It just keeps getting worse.

Quick look at Physioroom.

Schlupp has a "knee injury" but is only listed as "major doubt"; Townsend a dead leg and only slight doubt for the Burnley game. Wilf's toe and Tekers' hand sounded more like excuses to me. OTOH Ward and Loftus-Cheek are nearly fit again and Sakho is showing as returning 4 February.

Crutches and things may be precautionary. Remember De Bruyne was practically given the last rites after our match with them and played 90 minutes two days later.

And to everyone who wanted to play the first XI, that's why a lot of people didn't want to.

If they're both 6 week injuries, that'll hurt us. Need RLC and Ward back ASAP now.

8 players out and only one (Townsend) due back this weekend - although Ward and RLC are not far way.
The bench will look interesting on Saturday!

Should have played the youngsters yesterday. I can see why he won't risk them in the PL but there was nothing to lose last night (apart from bragging rights which I don't personally care about). Staying in the PL is all that matters and it was stupid to risk players when we are so short.

Totally agree. I was very surprised when I saw our line-up, I was expecting a much weaker team. It just goes to show you how poor our youngsters must be when they’re not even considered good enough to push for a first team place in a cup match.

The U23s played yesterday too. Two games in a day is asking a bit much.

Optimistic as ever
