After tonight’s error ridden display from Wayne’s world it must be blatantly obvious of our immediate need for a GK surely ?

Can’t believe we won’t be signing one tomorrow; would have played Jules anyway but we can’t play Hennessey again.

I have questioned our need to bring in a CB too but I'm afraid tonight highlighted our need for cover there. Defense was very lackluster. Kelly has got better but was bought in as a squad player and is getting further left behind as the squad improves and God bless him for all he has done for this club but Damo's body just won't let him do what he wants it to anymore.

Here we go again. We gave them masses of pressure and put Delaney in front of him. Can't anyone see that if you give the other lot that much pressure you're asking for trouble no matter who is in goal? If we concede 10 shots on target and he misses 1 in 12, you might be OK. If we concede 20, well, do the math. The problem was the central defenders and the lesson is that if we do anything in this window we need to provide cover for Tomkins. As the moment if anything happens to Kelly or Tomkins with Sakho and Dann out of it then we're relying on Delaney and he can't do it any more at this level. You'll have seen also that Riedewald was less effective when he was dropped deeper so he isn't going to be a centre-back. Same goes if you move Fosu-Mensah or van Aanholt into the middle. The other problem is that they kept us deep in our own half for much of the game. We didn't get our last two league results by doing that, did we? Tomkins and Kelly in central defence, and a decent attack of our own, and we stop City scoring for the first time in God knows how long. With Hennessey in goal. Tonight, same keeper, no Wilf and no Tomkins, lose to the weed. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but whilst a keeper upgrade would be most welcome (and seems to be in the offing), Hennessey is *not* the root cause of all our problems and neither is Speroni.

You’re ignoring the obvious benefit of having a keeper capable of pulling off multiple match winning saves. I honestly believe that a lot of our fans have forgotten what it is like to have a goalie that can do that for the club. It’s something that we need to find again and fast.

Not sure he could do much about the first one. Pretty much point blank. Awful defending on both goals. Deary me we need to pull our finger during this window

Agree we need a centre back urgently as well now. The fact that Delaney is even being considered should sound warning bells. Delaney should not be anywhere near the first team squad.
