They give 'em to anyone these days. What do you mean by "these days" as the honours system has been abused for centuries. Whilst no great fan of the Liberals I think that Nick Clegg and his party managed to curb the excesses of David Cameron's Government and austerity would have been far worse without him

A Knighthood for Nick Klegg.... Really!!! Well, you may not agree with his politics but he was Deputy Leader for five years in Coalition Govt. He was also hung out to dry by Cameron with Student fees u-turn but also naive to assume that his one major u-turn would be quickly forgotten when compared to Cameron's plethora of electoral u-turns.

Knighthood isn't all that for someone who's spent a life in politics, well since 1999, and held a seat in government since 2005. Leaders of the opposition often become lords, so getting the same honour as Bob Geldoff doesn't seem all that big a deal.
