I was surprised to see that we were worse off this time last season, I thought we had a good season!!!

Once a season ends the season was great if all goes well!

It seems you need to go into filter and press game 18!

Interesting as you say that given our appalling start to the season we have one more point at this stage than we did at the same time last season.
There are also more teams in the bottom half mix this season as well in terms of the points gap between them. It will take a while for teams to get gaps between them and others and not keep switching places based on one week's results.

If you look further on, we were still on 16 points after 22 games!!! I think by then we will be on 24 points this season!!! 2 wins and a draw.

I had a brief look at this. I am wondering how many points we actually need this year. It seems that 34-35 points might be enough.

Yeah everyone identifies 40 as the number to hit but 9 times out of 10 you're safe with 37

Other than 2015/6 - when we had such a great start - our points tally after 18 games exceeds that of any season since we rejoined the top flight

Correct and Thanks for putting it into perspective.

Yup. Our shocking run stood out because it was at the start of the season, but Newcastle are presently on a worse run (1 point from 24) than we went through (3 points from our first 24).

Staying up is all about arresting those alarming slides, and picking up points here and there.

it’s amazing how quick The perspective turns - we have gone from not scoring away from home all season, to three away clean sheets in a row in the space of an afternoon.

we have broken the record for longest run of no goals or points at the start of a season, and equalled our own record for longest run without defeat, all in the space of a few months.

It all depends on what statistics you want to listen to, and whether you want to be miserable midway, or happy at the end of the season.

Swansea look pretty consistent, lose tonight same number of points as last season, should have a better goal difference as well. Think the cap man will be called soon. Also Sunderland were still in the frame. It does look like there will be a bit more of a scrap this season and less points required to stay up. Judging by the goals scored/conceded we were providing entertainment at both ends. 2 more goals scored than ManUre. This year we seem to of partly addressed the issue in our defence which could be crucial. COYP !!
