He's just scored 3 goals, man. 3 goals in 14 matches. You might think he looks good, but he hasn't had a good season

Watch his movement (not on Football Manager) he would have had a field day with our attack. He didn't come cheap but what price do you put on survival?

Yes but how would he reach those 10 foot high balls - we play to much long ball - Bye Bye Benteke.

Height doesn't matter when you have the proper determination. Just look at what Coutinho does on a football pitch. Unfortunately, time is unforgiving for Defoe as it is for anyone. At 34 he's not what he used to be. And next year he'll be even less. And so on. Is it worth it to play him instead of a younger version who could do the same and keep it going for a few years in a row too, even get you money from a possible sell? (and I'm not talking about Benteke here, he's not my cup of tea)

Who do we go for though? Defoe is a quality finisher, always has been. I agree he is slowly losing it as he gets older but the choices are limited at present. I like Giroud, who would be a good Benteke replacement but I would like to see a smaller, faster striker such as Cenk Tosun. We have to trust that Dougie has been doing his job properly and that we have some ideas lined up already before Jan. The less we get to hear about it on here the better though, as all the best right field deals are done without the media knowing about them until the last minute. If Dougie doesn't produce the goods in Jan, we have to ask ourselves what exactly is he doing for his salary.

We couldn't even get Bendtner in the past from them. You are right about a smaller, faster striker but this type would complement Tekkers not replace. Think we need another option as well to get the number up to 4 as Wickham has injury doubts.

I'd hate to have one of those too short, too slow and too expensive centre forwards that's scored 36 goals in the last 2 seasons. I mean we've been so blessed at Palace in the last couple of years with quality, free scoring centre forwards.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |
