Referee decisions not going our way, woodwork, bad misses. Ever feel like me that supporting Palace makes you feel the world conspires against us? This year, the stattos have given us Expected Goals to reflect real chances made and how often you'd expect the chance to be taken. There's a league table to show who should be where based on their chances and guess where we are before looking (clue - it's not 20th). Maintains my belief that we will most likely stay up and although the "table doesn't lie" we don't really deserve to be where we are...

To be fair, one critical problem with using xG retrospectively like this is that it doesn't take into account the fact that goals change games massively. When you're losing by a goal, you will nearly always end up taking more shots (and therefore will have more xG) than your opponents. However, that aside, it reveals that we have been "unlucky" so to speak and that the fact we haven't had a proper striker for 6 weeks goes hand in hand with that statistic.

Based on tonight think we can pull ourselves further up the table running into Xmas. Spammers and Swansea look very shaky, Newcastle, WBA and Stoke wobbling as well. Do Pards new lot on Sat and we will be right back in the mix. COYP !!

Well not too bad an outturn tonight. Stoke: thumped. One point gained on all of the above and some serious dents in some of their goal differences. Edited by chateauferret (29 Nov 2017 10.01pm)
