If this board is a barometer of the nation as a whole then he's probably right. Can only be a matter of time before the streets are awash with arm wrestles.

He's more saying a compromise is likely. A Norwegian type exit. Also says he still doesn't understand where all the leave voters came from seeing as it was a select group of people backing it. Probably because anyone considering it was a racist, uneducated idiot who should be ignored or muted. Turns out loads of people think things have swung too far being within the EU and aren't all in fact union flag or st George's flag waving, white van driving, Carling drinking racists or xenophobes. We will leave, possibly with an internal compromise helped by results of negotiations. In years to come some will be glad if that happens and some will not. That'll probably depend on how well off you are, where you live and if you can afford to live where you prefer. The current under 30's will have no right to complain if in the future their offspring lose out at interview or in life due to more working holiday immigration or housing problems worsened with the added help of more of said immigration. Strange they can't see London is getting further from reach the longer we carry on the way we are. Hopefully by the time their kids are working, Basingstoke will be the new metropolis.

"Hitchens says the UK is in pre civil war condition". With all due respect to Mr. Hitchens, and of course anyone on here who might agree with him and be offended by me disagreeing, this is an exaggeration - we are a lot better off than we were in 1642.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

The less intelligent brother who has to spout nonsense to have any form of relevance beyond being "Christopher Hitchens less intelligent brother". Edited by Mstrobez (14 Nov 2017 5.03pm)

Personally I blame that James I for being the ‘General’ who set in motion things like mass immigration from Scotland, smoking bans, witchhunts, strictly come dancing (his favorite was the Gay Gordons). Charles I was just the ‘Sergeant’ who did pretty much nothing to halt these things in their tracks. PS: No offence intended to Scots, smokers, witches and Strictly fans, fans of James I, and absolutely anybody else who might be offended in any way whatsoever - accept my groveling apologies.
