I’ll be sad if we go down, not just because of playing championship football, but because it’s the end of an era in my own life. Starting university, falling in love with my girlfriend, meeting my best friend, breaking up with said girlfriend- all happened in the past 5 years with premiership football as the backdrop. Might sound weird but it’s definitely a thing.

Good

I think when he put out ten different players from Saturday he wasn't thinking too much about winning this game.

As they say, we've got bigger problems than being knocked out of a cup to deal with.

James... That is an incredibly moving post! Now multiply your experiences and feelings by 25,000+ and maybe you and others will begin to see where posters like me are coming from when I start calling people out.

Plus to all you antipodean guys and gals who have become accustomed to being able to see Palace on a weekly basis with relative ease.

Yes, the days of hoping for a big team in the cup to get a TV game are only a few years behind us. Weird to think couldnt even get a stream

For me when we get relegated I will be disappointed but I have always felt it was inevitable.
My boy on the other hand is eight, he has supported Palace since he was 4 and asked me to buy him a shirt. I must admit I wasn’t overly bothered if he did or hunted glory...I didn’t want the same for him as I have had for myself, 30 years of well being a Palace fan!
It will truly be the end of an era for him, he thinks we are a prem team and beating Liverpool, Chelsea etc is what we do!! He has been spoilt really and the next few years will teach him what it’s truly like supporting Palace.
He loves Selhurst and we have had some amazing days there in the past few years, it’s funny really because although indifferent to him choosing Palace as his team if he were to turn his back on them and ask me for a Chelsea shirt now that is what would hurt the most, not our inevitable return to the championship.
For the record I still think it won’t be this season!
Coyp.

I'd feel for your boy, too (if it happens), but it's all a matter of perspective - i.e. depending on your starting point. I was 4, too, when I went to my first game - in the old 3rd Division South. Then a few seasons later, it was down to the new 4th Division. So for me, after a long bumpy ride, it's all gravy now.

Ummmm sorry not that good at pc
Can barely type I'm afraid
Along the lines of the only happy players will be the ten or so that didn't play.
Like the first 11.
Gave these lot a chance and they dropped the ball.
Not just Wayne I might add ironically.

If you search you'll find it.
I think we will spank West ham strangely enough.
