My brief review of the game... Palace came out of the blocks flying, obviously keen to impress and make a stake for the 1st team. They were spured on by some of the best away support i have ever witnessed at Ashton Gate. They played the sort of football we've come to expect from us. We were shocked by how good they were and I feel we gave them far too much respect in the early part of the game. It was only a matter of time before they scored and it came as no surprise when they did, but scoring was actually their down fall as it gave us a reality check and we started to get into the game more. Fammys injury was regrettable as it was his own doing. He tried to hard to win the ball near the half way line, climbed over a player and landed awkwardly on his knee. This enforced change gave us a different dimension and turned into a blessing with MD sheer presence causing Palace problems. Mags made a exquisite cross field ball onto the head of MD and his header caused Van Aaanholt all sorts of problems and he headed it into the path of Matty Taylor and from there on in there was only going to be one winner. Palace lost confidence and also tired and we took full advantage and we're back to our best.
"It's ok postman , he'll lick you to death" "That isn't really that comforting , I still end up dead !!" |

Yeah, saw that and a couple of City fans on Twitter saying we were great. Nice to see something about this club is right at the minute!

bring on West Ham and let's hope for the type of performance we had against Chelsea. I'm sure the support v West Ham will be right up there to begin with. Most of us write off the League Cup anyway. Well that's how it will start at least.

Been a problem all season. Can't score when on top. Can't stop conceding when the opposition get on top. For about 30 minutes every game we've looked quite good, but for another 30 minutes we've looked league 2. Cant seem to put together 90 good minutes.

Lets go for the throat from the off. Really batter them till they crumble and we score. Their confidence is almost as low as ours. They wont expect us to take it to them.

I think they will expect it but it's what they match it with that matters. It's a bit like Parish, Pardew and Frank's grand plans. Great v cones but can't beat under 23 year olds or afford it straight off either. Come on you cvnts, give us some more hope before the next 2 months that make or break the next 18 months.

Personally think some of the reactions on here are over the top. With our starting 11 I’d say we were probably the underdogs. We were good first half and could have been a few up after 35 mins then PVA has a shocker followed by a goal mouth scramble. Goals change the flow of a game, there’s always gonna be gaps when you’re chasing. Second half we had admittedly lacked fight and we conceded two long range screamers, you can’t do much about those. City probably edged it over 90 mins but 4-1 flattered them. Thoroughly enjoyed first half, atmosphere was great. We’re looking far better than we were under De Boer and I’m confident we’ll get a result against Wet Ham

However, I agree that some of the most virulent reaction seems to be almost based on our first team playing the match, and the accompanying expectations, rather than our reserve side bar a couple of players. I can't imagine the same result would occur had we sent out our first team but we were never going to do that.
