they clearly DO have a strategy, didn't like it when they got rid of Quique Sanchez Flores but it seems to be working - they just take it season by season - there are plenty of examples like Dowie here and Roy Keane at Sunderland, and Pardew in several places, turning a team around having a great impact for a year or so and then there's nowhere else to go - Watford just get a new man in when that happens - think Silva will get more than a season of course, but he won't be staying cos he'll be head-hunted - so they do have a point - Parrish gets too much stick but he does tend to go in for expensive fire fighting - there is a lack of strategy, and he goes for established success rather than spotting someone on the rise, it worked for him with Doogie when he took a punt, but the whole De Boer debacle would not have happened at Watford - so the OP makes a good point.
